HOKA and DIY-inspiration designer Nicole McLaughlin come together for a second time to create another version of her custom-made Mafate Speed Three2 collaboration. Using the Three2 as the base gives the project plenty of cred, drawing from the wild archive of HOKA running history. The maximalist outsole and aggressive overlays echo the out-of-this-world releases which caught the eyes of fashion-forward stylists as they flew down the side the of French mountainside.

McLaughlin's utilitarian, repurposed design ideology saw her develop a unique two-part gaiter system that's reminiscent of the protective booties trail runners deploy to protect their ankles from sticks and rocks.
